Frequently asked questions
Are these ingredients safe for my dog?
Absolutely. Drunken Dog uses spent grain, all-natural peanut butter, whole wheat flour, eggs and a touch of honey. All ingredients are fresh, natural and doggie-approved. If you’re concerned about the addition of honey: There’s a lot of disagreement about the effects of honey on dogs; however, almost all veterinarians agree that honey is perfectly fine in small amounts. Your entire bag of treats has less than a teaspoon of honey – just enough to appeal to your pup, but not enough to be unhealthy. In fact, some vets believe honey can actually be good for adult dogs! If your dog it allergic, you can opt to exclude the honey by placing a custom order.
Is there any alcohol in the treats?
None at all. Essentially, breweries steep the grain to extract the sugars. The result is what’s called the wort, or a grain tea. The wort is drained off the grain, and the grain – now spent – is discarded. The brewer then adds yeast and additional ingredients to the wort, and then the brew is fermented. Your dog’s treats never even come into contact with alcohol, which ensures a safe, healthy treat for your best friend.
How long will my treats last?
Your treats should last at least two months if you keep them in their tin-tie bags, or in a dog treat jar. The treats are thoroughly oven-dried and should far outlast your dog’s desire for them! Make sure you store your treats in a cool, dry place to prevent mold.
What do you think of recommendations that I feed my dog only grain-free food?
I’ve gotten some great questions lately about the grain-free movement in dog food. While Drunken Dog treats aren’t grain-free (obviously), they are all natural, contain easier-to-digest cooked grains, and are meant to be a special treat (not a meal).
